SUGGESTED WAYS TO BURY LATE PAYMENTS OF ALLOWANCE FOR 2020 AND BEYOND___King Size

Esoko Ghana Company Limited is one of the NGOs Ghana can be proud of. Esoko has been the pillar behind accurate weather report and agricultural tips for many years across the country. Esoko have had many citations in honour of their impressive performance in and across the country.

Esoko's success stories can never be measured without the work of the enumerators since about 98% of their work is heavily loaded on the enumerators, this projects that when all enumerators lay down their tools at a go, Esoko will be left alone hanging on a half leg. Upon this and every efforts of the enumerators, instead of the month to end for us to go to the banks with joy, we rather wait for a week or two. There was a time that Esoko was even owing enumerators three months arrears and this affected our core duty as market agents.

King Size, one of the enumerators who has Esoko at heart and willing to work with Esoko all the days of his life has sat down to monitor problems confronting late payment of allowance. According to this jobless university graduate, Esoko has been the survival of his life since enumearation is the only job he does for living. He however discovered the problems confronting late payments of allowance and suggested a solutions to them.

Approval of prices at the end of the month
This is the major cause of the delay of the allowance since Esoko will wait for the month to end before approving prices. According to the Content Manager of Esoko Ghana Company Limited, Mr. Francis Agyei Danso Abeam, it takes them three days to approve prices and the bank also use two days to make payment, meaning five working days are used to approve and make payment and for the money to reflect in our banks is another unknown problem. We suggest that since we are in a digitalized environment, Esoko ITs should design a system that will be approving the prices on daily basis so that just at the end of the month, the gross total will be there naked. Or, if such system cannot be designed for now, the officer who have been doing the monthly approval of prices should restructure his duties by doing it daily in a way to avoid delay. Daily approvals of prices will put enumerators on their toes to make sure that prices will be sent on their respective marketing days instead of waiting to be uploading prices in arrears.

Mode of payment
Some of we the enumerators are in a typical remote area in such a way that there is no banking institution in our villages. When we get the news that payment is made, we need to take either okada or pragea in a way to get to the next town to cash our little money. The suggestion is that, since mobile money usage is everywhere, Esoko should get in touch with we the enumerators who wishes to get our allowance through mobile money so that the transactions will be favourable to us all. This may even creat an employment as Esoko MoMo Manager whose duty is to be crediting enumerators mobile money numbers at the end of the month.

In summary, approval of prices at the end of the month and mode of payment are the major causes of delay in payment of enumerators allowance which suggested that, prices should be approved on daily basis and payment should be done through mobile money transactions.

Without much ado, I end here with warmth greetings to everybody. Happy new year
